Contractors All Risks Policy

This policy falls into the category of construction covers and it mainly focuses on covering the risk of loss arising out of building civil works structures.

Covered parties include the main contractor, subcontractors, and in some cases suppliers and manufacturers of material used during the construction.

On some risks, a combination of Erection All Risks and Contractors all risks (CAR) is used.

The usual main categories of cover are:

a. Contract Works
Physical damage to the contract works.

b. Owned Plant and Machinery
loss or damage to Contractors Plant, Temporary Buildings within the territorial limits and Employees effects if included.

c. Hired Plant and Machinery
loss or damage to Hired Plant within the territorial limits including
the continued charges of such hire during the period of the loss.

d. Advance Loss of Profits (Delay in Start Up)
The financial loss resulting from interruption or interference with the
contract works programme which causes delay in the scheduled start
of commercial operation or sale of the company during the Indemnity
Period because of a covered cause.

e. Public Liability
Cover for legal liability to pay compensation to other people for:

Injury or death your operations may have cause to another person
who is not your employee.
Damage to material property belonging to others.
Nuisance, trespass, obstruction or interference with any right of
Way, light, air, water or easement caused by your operations.
libel slander or defamation of character your business activities
may have caused.

The policy has many extensions which are customisable to the type of
works and project being covered.
