Owning and operating a boat whether for personal leisure or commercial use comes with certain risks which require adequate insurance cover. The Marine Hull and Liability insurance covers damage or loss to the vessel, including its machinery and equipment, as well as legal liability to any third party due to the boat’s operations or the actions of the crew.
a. Hull cover
Covers accidental loss or damage to the vessel whether in a water
body, in storage or in transit on a road.
b. Liability cover
Covers the legal liability associated with damage to the property of
others, bodily injury or death caused by the operation of your boat.
c. Ship repairers’ liability
Covers the legal liability ship repairers face for loss and damage
occurring while a boat is in their care, custody or control. It also applies
when a vessel is being moved within the limits of the port where work
is being done and while in transit to or from a specialist repairer or
manufacturers’ premises
d. Ship builders’ risk
Cover for vessels under construction or conversion; against risks of
physical loss or physical damage. It also allows for launching, sea trials
and liabilities arising out of the build.
